Introduction
To make higher education easier for people with benchmark disabilities and those with locomotor disabilities caused by spinal cord injuries, Lovely Professional University (LPU) has introduced a special scholarship scheme.
Under this scheme, students can get a full programme fee waiver, including the examination fee, for select programmes listed in Annexure-C. These programmes include most regular courses, Honours programmes (where no regular equivalent exists), and certain courses regulated by specific authorities.
This scholarship is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s important to apply before the admission deadline to secure your spot.
Who Can Apply for This Scholarship?
- A person with benchmark disability means someone with 70% or more disability as certified by an authority. This does not include Deaf & Dumb disabilities.
- A person with locomotor disability caused by spinal cord injury, where they face difficulty in movement due to problems in the musculoskeletal or nervous system.

Key Points About the Scholarship In LPU
- This scholarship is for Indian students only.
- It offers a full programme fee waiver, including the examination fee.
- Students must pay for their residential facilities, such as stay, food, and laundry. If a student has an attendant, they can stay in the same hostel room for free but must pay for food and laundry.
- Students admitted through SCIA (Spinal Cord Injury Association) will get free hostel dormitory stay.
- For upgraded residential facilities, university rules will apply. These cases must be approved by SCIA representatives.
Application Requirements In LPU
- Apply by 30th June, 2020, if going through SCIA.
- Meet the eligibility criteria and follow the admission process mentioned in the university’s prospectus or website.
- Submit a valid medical certificate issued by a civil hospital or higher government authority. A Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card is mandatory.
- Provide an income certificate (from parents, guardian, or self if employed).
Important Rules
- Students can choose only one scholarship or financial aid scheme if eligible for multiple benefits.
- Scholarships are for the normal duration of the programme only. Extra time taken to complete the course is not covered.
- The scholarship does not cover additional fees like backlog, re-appear, or make-up exams.
- Students must maintain good behavior and not face disciplinary action or be involved in academic misconduct during their time at LPU.
Other Details
- A free turnstile gate pass will be given to attendants for security purposes. Re-issue of the pass will be charged.
- The final decision on the scholarship is taken by the university and cannot be challenged.
- The scholarship applies only to the programmes listed in Annexure-C.

Parking Facility and Registration Charges for Students
Parking facilities are available for both Day Scholars and resident students at the university. Students interested in using this facility must register their vehicle(s) (2-wheeler and/or 4-wheeler) by filling out a prescribed form and paying the registration charges before bringing their vehicles to campus.

- The registration charges are valid for the academic session 2024-2025 and may change for future sessions.
- The parking area (unpaved) will be located at some distance from the residential accommodation and/or academic block.
- The university is not responsible for any loss, damage, or theft of vehicles, accessories, or materials inside the vehicle.
- Students must follow the speed limit set by the university at all times.
- For 2-wheelers, both the driver and pillion rider are required to wear a helmet.
- Tripling and any other actions forbidden under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and other laws are not allowed.
- All vehicles brought inside the campus must have valid Insurance, RC (Registration Certificate), Driving License, Pollution Certificate, and other necessary documents as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and relevant regulations.
